VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED
As you can see, many of the positions are filled by the same people. But we don’t want it that way! We’d LOVE to have new Parents come in and learn how to run events and programs! We are all for new Volunteers, Helpers, Co-Chairs, Chairs, Board members, and even Executive Committee members! Please contact the PTO at [email protected] if you’d like to help in any way. Thanks!

PTO EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 2019 – 2020
Elected Positions: 1-year commitment – These elected Board members attend Executive Committee meetings and PTO meetings.

President: Laura Shelley
The President presides at general PTO meetings and Executive Committee meetings, and serves as the primary contact to the Principal. The President also retains all official records of the PTO.

Vice President: Gretchen Archuleta
The VP assists the PTO President as needed, including conducting meetings in Presidents absence. THE VP also acts as the Membership Rep in the absence of a Volunteer to fill that position.

Treasurer: Jim Minor
The Treasurer posts all financial transactions to the financial system as they occur. He also creates a monthly PTO Treasurer report. He reconciles the checkbook, writes checks as needed, and makes deposits in a timely fashion. He leads the annual budget development process and presents the budget to the PTO membership for approval. He also files annual IRS forms, renews licenses and insurance annually, and facilitates the annual audit.

Secretary: Brittany Westbrooke
The Secretary records and distributes minutes of Executive Committee meetings and general meetings. She maintains a complete file of all approved minutes, agendas, and materials distributed by any official PTO meeting. She manage communications through newsletters, emails, and flyers. She also works with Webmaster to insure the PTO website is up to date.

PTO BOARD MEMBERS 2019 – 2020
These Board members are appointed by the PTO President with the approval of the Executive Committee. They attend PTO meetings, and update the PTO on matters pertaining to their position.

Fundraising Representative: Gretchen Archuleta
The Fundraising Rep coordinates our fall fundraiser; this is our Fun Run. 100% of the proceeds go to the BLE PTO to help fund activities and benefits for the school.

Passive Fundraising Representative: Brittany Westbrooke
The PF Rep develops a plan to encourage families to turn in Box Tops & Labels for Education, and runs a quarterly contest for the classrooms. She arranges restaurant takeovers, manages store rewards program, etc.

K-2 Parent Rep: Shandra Wilson
The Parent Reps promote PTO meetings and programs to their grades. They also provide an informal report at PTO Meetings on things happening in their grades, ideas, concerns and/or suggestions.

3-5 Parent Rep: Shandra Wilson
The Parent Reps promote PTA meetings and programs to their grades. They also provide an informal report at PTO Meetings on things happening in their grades, ideas, concerns and/or suggestions.

Volunteer Chair Positions 2019 – 2020
These positions are the leads of the various awesome activities that our PTO funds and runs for our Bobcats throughout the School Year! These programs and events are always in need of new Parents to help out and to eventually take over. They may be at risk of being discontinued at times if Chairpersons are not found to lead them!

Auditors (2): STILL NEEDED 
Auditors review the PTO books twice a year to verify that all checks are accounted for and that the books balance. Audit forms and instructions are provided.

Bingo and Books Chair: Laura Shelley
The Bingo and Books Chairs plan a night of Bingo fun for BLE students and families to take place in February. Laura is looking for Parents to help out and learn how to run this super fun event!

Trunk or Treat and Boo Bash Chair: Wendy Roberts
The Chair of this event plans a night of family fun with Trunk or Treat in the parking lot, including a Best Trunk Contest, followed by a fun activity with A DJ for dancing, coloring and activities tables, and a Best Costume Contest for grades K-1, 2-3, 4-5, and one for Parents, in the gym. Jim is looking for a CO-Chair to help with this event!

Book Fair Chair: Vacant
The Book Fair Chair plans three days of book sales through Scholastic Books. All funds raised support the BLE library.

Bulletin Board Chair: Vacant
Design and create monthly PTA bulletin boards in the BLE foyer. The PTA would LOVE to find a creative Parent to take over this task!

Carnival Chair: Jim Minor

The Carnival Chair coordinates with local community organizations and businesses to host Carnival games, hires entertainment, works with local food vendors to arrange food trucks and vendors, and coordinates the Volunteers to ensure that Carnival goes off without a hitch – at least to the outside observer!  It’s the one event each year that all Bobcats look forward to!

Open House and Community Night Chairs: Jim Minor
The Open House Chair coordinates with the Principal to have a night full of information from the School, and makes sure that the PTA table at the Open House is staffed and has all of the documents and Spiritwear needed so that Parents and Bobcats can see what the PTA has to offer. The Community Night Chair contacts local local businesses and community organizations to have as many as possible set up with tables to show new and returning Parents and Bobcats what’s out there in our community. The Executive Committee would appreciate any help they can get to make this event a winner!

Flaky Fun Chair: Gretchen Archuleta
The Flaky Fun Chair coordinates with the School to hold a day just before winter break filled with crafts, food and fun!

Garden Day Chair: Gretchen Archuleta
The Garden Day Chair works with the Principal to organize a day for volunteers to clean up the gardens and grounds around the school. Last year we cleaned up the Secret Garden and made it much more accessible to our Bobcats! This year we plan to plant more flowers in the Secret Garden area and to take out some of the thorny vines and weeds in the area adjacent the Secret Garden to make things safer – and prettier! – for our Bobcats! Jim is currently looking for a Parent to Co-Chair so that more can get done!

Movie Night Co-Chairs: Brittany Westbrooke and Megan Moskwa 
The Movie Night Chairs plan two or three movie nights throughout the year at BLE for families to enjoy a safe night out with ALL of their kids! This is a relatively simple event, where the Chairs need only to pick the movie (with approval from the Principal!), and have Volunteers (usually from local High Schools) make popcorn while families watch the movie and relax. If you’re interested in helping out, let us know!

Science Fair Chair: Gretchen Archuleta
The Science Fair Chair coordinates with Teachers and the Principal to arrange for enough space for all of the Science Fair entries. She also arranges for science demonstrations, recruits judges and other volunteers for event. She oversees set up, operation, and clean up of the event.

Staff Appreciation Chair: Gretchen Archuleta
The S.A. Chair does a whole HOST of things during Staff Appreciation Week in May to show the BLE Teachers and Staff that we think that they are the best in the business! If you’re interested in knowing more or would like to help out, please let us know!

Webmaster: Gretchen Archuleta and Brittany Westbrooke
The Webmaster does his best to regularly update the BLE PTO website, to enhance communication with our members and local community. If you are computer savvy (and know HTML), and would like to take on the job, contact us!
